Agrology Club

The purpose of the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Agrology Club is to expose students to career paths and business operations within the scope of agrology and agriculture. This is predominantly done through guided tours and organized meetings on campus. Additionally, our club aims to promote the Agrology designation in partnership with current Professional Agrologists and the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists (NSIA).

World University Services Canada (WUSC)

The Dal AC WUSC Local Committee is a club that is a part of a non-profit organisation WUSC (World University Service of Canada) that supports international development with the mission to improve education, employment, and empowerment opportunities for youth, including women and refugees. Over 80 WUSC local committees exist all over Canadian campuses and Dal AC has the pleasure of being one of them for the past 17 years. Our WUSC club works to host events that raise awareness about international development issues and to raise money to support programs that help fix them.

Our local committee is also involved in the Student Refugee Program (SRP) which provides private sponsorship to young refugees to come to Canada as permanent residents and study at a Canadian postsecondary institution. The SRP is the only program of its kind to provide education with resettlement. So far, over 1700 students have been placed since 1978. These talented and driven students that come through this program help enrich our Canadian communities and are a perfect example of how education changes the world.

Other initiatives that WUSC is involved with is Shine A Light, which supports funding for education to refugee women. This program raises money to provide these girls with solar lamps and after-school programs in a safe learning environment so that they may complete their studies. WUSC is also involved with Uniterra. WUSC partnered with the International Center for Studies and Cooperation (CECI) to empower and support women and youth to improve inclusive economic development in their community. Each year, 600 volunteers work with Uniterra in 18 countries to reach this goal.
